Northwoods League to hold All-Star game tonight

July 20, 2010 By Bill Scott

The best from the first half of the Northwoods League season will hit the field at Carson Park in Eau Claire for tonight’s All-Star game.  The game is set for 7:35 with the Home Run Deby at 6:05.

Last night the festivities got underway with a banquet featuring Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew.  Killebrew is familiar with what the Northwoods League is all about:

Killebrew really likes the fact that the Northwoods league uses wood bats.  As he looked back as his days as a broadcast and hitting instructor, Killebrew would like to see more leagues like this:

The Home Run Derby will consist of eight participants including defending champion Harold Riggins of the Madison Mallards.  Three other participants from Wisconsin teams are in the field:  Kyle Gaedele of Madioson, Steve McGuiggan of Eau Claire and Scott Scheble of Green Bay.
