A group of Wisconsin women motorcyclists have embarked on a 670 mile ride to raise money and awareness about a program for accident scene response. “We believe the most likely person to be at the scene of the crash is another motorcyclist. So we want to teach the average motorcyclist what to do until the professionals get there,” says organizer Vicki Sanfelipo.
Women In Motion left Madison this morning for Clinton, Iowa. From there they’ll make stops in La Crosse, Phillips and Chippewa Falls before going back home.
Various events are held at the overnight stops to encourage the community to join the group. “We’ve been known to grab people along the way before,” Sanfelipo says with a chuckle.
The 10th Annual River Road Fundraiser is in conjunction with Tommy Thompson’s 16th Annual Reunion Ride which Thompson created while Governor. The ride is Accident Scene Management’s largest annual fundraiser.
