Alleged motorcycle murderer mute in court

August 12, 2010 By WRN Contributor

A motorcyclist accused of fatally shooting a Janesville man is arraigned in Rock County Court. 44-year-old James Humphrey and a friend were riding their motorcycles the night of June 4. According to the criminal complaint, the two confronted the occupants of a jeep at downtown Janesville intersection. Humphrey is accused of shooting a passenger in the jeep, 30-year-old Sam Aegerter.

Humphrey stood mute at this arraignment Wednesday and a Rock County Judge Kenneth Forbeck entered a not guilty plea on his behalf. Humphrey faces up to 60 years in prison on the reckless homicide charge. He’s being held in the Rock County Jail on one million dollars bail.
