Stricker makes U.S. Ryder Cup team (AUDIO)

Madison’s Steve Stricker was named to the 2010 U.S. Ryder Cup team.

Stricker was among the top 8 players as determined by points.

Also gaining automatic spots on the team are Phil Mickelson, Hunter Mahan, Bubba Watson, Jim Furyk, Dustin Johnson, Jeff Overton and Matt Kuchar.

U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Corey Pavin will make four additional captain’s selections on Sept. 7th.  The next four golfers according to points are Anthony Kimm, Lucas Glover, Zach Johnson and Tiger Woods.

Woods and Stricker were paired together during the Presidents Cup last year.  Stricker said he’d like to join Tiger again this year.

Stricker shot even par during the final round of Sunday’s PGA Championship and finished 4-under for the tournament.  Stricker finished even in 3 of the 4 days, firing a 4-under par 68 in Saturday’s 3rd round.
