Eight-run second rockets Brewers past Reds

September 23, 2010 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Brewers exploded for 8-runs in the second inning and cruised past the Cincinnati Reds 13-1 at Miller Park.

The Brewers avoided a 3-game sweep by pounding out 19-hits, including home runs from Corey Hart and Craig Counsell.  It’s just the 2nd win in 11 games for the Brewers against Cincinnati this season.

The Reds didn’t lose any ground in the division standings.  In fact, with the St. Louis Cardinals loss (11-6) to Pittsburgh, the Reds magic number to clinch the NL Central Division is now down to 3.

The Brewers open their final home series of the season tonight, the first of four games against the Florida Marlins.
