Hockey Badgers picked to finish 7th in WCHA

A preseason vote of the WCHA‘s coaches pegs North Dakota as the overwhelming choice to win the McNaughton Cup as regular season champions in 2011.

St. Cloud State is second, followed by Minnesota-Duluth, Denver, Minnesota

and Colorado College.

Wisconsin was picked to finish 7th, while the coaches predict new league members Nebraska-Omaha and Bemidji State will finish eighth and ninth, respectively.

Mike Eaves Badgers had a lot of turnover after reaching the NCAA Title game last season.  They lost 75% of their point scoring.  Also gone are assistant coaches Mark Osiecki and Kevin Patrick.

Eaves was asked today where he thought the Badgers should finish.

The Badgers open the season a week from Friday against Boston University at the Icebreaker in St. Louis.
