Johnson offers three debates with Feingold

September 15, 2010 By Bob Hague

Democratic incumbent Russ Feingold proposed six debates with Republican challenger Ron Johnson even before the Oshkosh business owner won Tuesday’s Republican primary. The Johnson campaign says he’s accepted invitations to an October 8th debate in Milwaukee, an October 11th debate in Wausau and an October 22nd debate in Milwaukee.

“These debates will show voters that there is a clear choice between the politics as usual offered by Senator Feingold and the common sense approach and fiscal responsibility my background would bring to the U.S. Senate,” Johnson said in a statement.

“We remain committed to the six debates that we have accepted, and Ron Johnson has failed to meet the challenge to have an honest debate of the issues.” said a statement from Feingold, whose campaign had committed to the October 8th and 11th events as well as a Sunday debate in Eau Claire

Feingold’s campaign had previously committed to six debates, including the October 8th and 11th events that Johnson wants, plus Sunday’s Eau Claire debate and events in Madison on October 18th and Oshkosh October 22nd.
