It’s Walk to School Day

October 6, 2010 By Bob Hague

Kids are encouraged to walk or bike to school today. Clark Collins with the Wisconsin Academy of Physician Assistants said PAs are concerned with childhood obesity – and walking or biking to school can help make a difference.” Doing either one, and just getting kids out there is a great way to, if nothing else, at least begin the process of changing to a more healthy lifestyle,” said Collins. “Some of that (increase in childhood obesity) has to do with all the opportunity kids have for doing things inside. You need to get outside and play as well.” The WAPA, in Stevens Point for their fall conference, is marking International Walk to School Day with kids from Washington Elementary School.
