Brewers announce 2011 coaching staff

November 16, 2010 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Brewers announced their coaching staff for the upcoming 2011 season.  The staff includes three returning members and three newcomers.

Former Reds manager Jerry Narron has been named the Brewers bench coach, replacing Willie Randolph.  Narron managed the Reds from 2005-07 and managed the Texas Rangers from 2001-02.

Rick Kranitz is the new pitching coach, replacing Rick Peterson, who still had a year left on his contract.  Kranitz comes to the Brewers from Baltimore, where he served as the Orioles’ pitching coach from 2008 through last season.

Garth Iorg, who served s the Brewers roving infield coordinator, has been named first-base/infield coach.  Iorg spent 9 seasons as a player in the majors, all with the Toronto Blue Jays.  He served as third-base coach under interim manager Dale Sveum in 2008.

Sveum signed a two-year contract extension to remain the Brewers hitting coach.  Ed Sedar returns as base running coach and will move from the first base coaching box to third base.  Stan Kyles also returns as the Brewers bullpen coach.

John Shelby was appointed outfield instructor/eye in the sky and Josh Seligman strength and conditioning specialist.
