Edgar captures Division 6 football title

November 19, 2010 By Bill Scott

The Edgar Wildcats captured their 2nd straight state football title, winning the WIAA Division 6 championship by holding off Fond du Lac Springs 6-3 at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.

Edgar’s (14-0) Kyle Schueller scored the game’s only touchdown on a 4-yard run in the first quarter.  The Ledgers (12-2) only score came on a 34-yard field goal by Brad Freiherr as time ran out in the first half.

The win gave Edgar its 6th WIAA State football championship.  The Wildcats previously won title games in 1979, 1992, 1999, 2001 and 2009.
