Green Bay wins exhibition basketball opener

The Green Bay Phoenix men’s basketball team kicked off its exhibition season with a 78-55 win over Division 3 Edgewood College on Monday night.

Freshman Alex Brown scored 17 points and senior Rahmon Fletcher added 12 to lead Green Bay.  The Phoenix used a 20-5 run to end the first half to build a 37-23 lead at the break.

Brown’s night included hitting 5 of 7 field goals and 7 for 8 at the free throw line.  The 7’1 freshman added five rebounds in his 19 minutes of action.

For the game, Green Bay shot 44% from the floor and 86% from the free-throw line. 

The Phoenix will open the regular season on Saturday, hosting Minnesota-Duluth at the Kress Events Center at 2pm.
