Voss looks for JFC leadership

November 8, 2010 By Bob Hague

The state Assembly is poised to selected new leadership this week, and Burlington Republican Robin Vos is poised to become co-chair of the powerful Joint Committee on Finance, which crafts the biennial state budget. “I am obviously a big supporter of Jeff Fitzgerald, he’s done a great job getting us through this election cycle,” said Vos. Fitzgerald, of Horicon, served as Minority Leader in the last session, and is the presumed choice to lead the GOP caucus now that the party holds the Assembly majority. “We have a good team. I am hopeful that he’ll choose me to be finance committee chairman. He has given me that indication.”

Vos expects that new majority will see eye to eye with Governor-elect Scott Walker. “I think that his priority of jobs and the economy is what everybody that I know, both the people who were successful and those who weren’t, ran on when they ran for the legislature. We want to create good paying jobs here in Wisconsin.” Republicans pick their leaders today, while minority Democrats are scheduled to pick their new leadership team on Tuesday.
