Brewers sign catcher Nieves

The Milwaukee Brewers signed catcher Wil Nieves to a 1-year deal on Friday.

Nieves hit .203 with 3 HR’s and 16 RBI’s in 59 games with the Washington Nationals last season.  He made 43 starts behind the plate in 2010.

Nieves owns a career batting average of .227 with 5 HR and 73 RBI in 262 games during parts of seven seasons with San Diego, the New York Yankees and Washington. 

The Brewers 40-man roster now stands at 38.
