Doeren to leave UW for Northern Illinois

December 13, 2010 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is reporting today that Wisconsin Defensive Coordinator Dave Doeren has been hired as the head coach at Northern Illinois.  The Huskies are expected to make an announcement today (Monday).

Doeren takes over for Jerry Kill, who took the Minnesota head coaching job after Tim Brewster was fired.

It’s the first loss to Bret Bielema’s coaching staff.  He has talked about the possibility in recent weeks of losing some of his coaches to open jobs around the country.  Doeren was a member of Bielema’s first staff in 2006.
