Former UW Stout hockey players will stand trial

December 1, 2010 By WRN Contributor

A former U.W. Stout hockey player and a hockey recruit will stand trial in the death of a fellow student. There may be separate trials for 23-year-old Jared Britton and 21-year-old Jed McGlasson, in the death of 22-year-old Brad Simon. Witnesses say Simon got into an argument with the two and other hockey players at the Log Jam Bar in Menomonie in September. Bouncer Joseph Kuehn told the court yesterday he saw Britton shove Simon as he was riding his bike. He then crashed into a wall and flew over the handlebars. Britton told a U.W. Stout administrator it was McGlasson who pushed Simon. District Attorney James Peterson told WEAU 13 News he believes both men are equally responsible. Both men will be back in court in two weeks for arraignment.
