Marquette loses a member of the family

December 7, 2010 By Bill Scott

Former Marquette head coach Hank Raymonds died on Monday after a long battle with cancer.  He was 86.

Raymonds spent 13 years as Al McGuire’s top assistant before taking over as head coach when McGuire departed in 1977.  Raymonds served as Marquette’s head coach until 1983, compiling a career record of 126-50.  All six of his teams advanced to postseason play, including five trips to the NCAA Tournament.
