Flynn likely to face Patriots on Sunday

December 16, 2010 By Bill Scott

It’s looking like backup quarterback Matt Flynn will make his first NFL start this Sunday night when the Green Bay Packers face the New England Patriots in Foxboro, Mass.

Aaron Rodgers didn’t practice yesterday and is scheduled to skip workouts today and tomorrow as well.  In fact, he’s been resting at home, away from the playbook, meetings and even film work.  Rodgers most likely won’t be tested until Saturday, but his availability for Sunday doesn’t look good.

Coach Mike McCarthy said they have to let things play out before determining whether or not Aaron Rodgers could play.  He has to be cleared by doctors to play and that possibility won’t even present itself until Saturday.

Flynn finished up in last week’s loss at Detroit.  His performance this week will be crucial for the Packers, who face a likely must-win situation against the Patriots on Sunday night.
