Tasty way to spur state economy

December 21, 2010 By Brian Moon

Wisconsin’s agricultural ambassador is making the rounds encouraging people to buy local. The 63rd Alice in Dairyland Christine Lindner says there are more 300 companies’ products in the Something Special from Wisconsin line.

“From breakfast, appetizers, hors d’oeuvres, to dinner, to ‘sit back and relax’ with Wisconsin wine, it’s a wide variety of products and even gift giving ideas too,” she says.

The Something Special logo means at least half of the products ingredients; production or processing activities come from within state borders. It’s not just edibles as Lindner mentions a local producer who cultivates goat soap. She says the purchases will help keep the Badger State’s economy strong.

Alice in Dairyland suggests sending the locally made goods to friends and family out-of-state to give them a taste of Wisconsin.
