Walker unveils senior-level staff

December 29, 2010 By Brian Moon

Governor-elect Scott Walker announced today who will serve as his senior-level staff beginning January 3. At least one pick comes recently from the private sector. Eric Schutt, the incoming Deputy Chief of Staff, was previously the vice president of state government affairs for UnitedHealth Group (UHG). Prior to joining UHG he was a long time aide to Republican campaigns and lawmakers.

Walker’s pick for Chief Legal Counsel Brian Hagedorn is a former Assistant Attorney General in the state Department of Justice and has worked in private practice at Foley & Lardner in Milwaukee.

Chris Schrimpf will be appointed Communications Director. He comes from the Republican Governors Association where he was the organization’s spokesman.

Walker’s selection for Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs will be Ryan Murray. Murray was with Walker’s gubernatorial campaign fulfilling a similar role.

“I am thrilled with the highly qualified senior-level staff the transition team has assembled,” said transition director John Hiller in a statement.

The announcement comes a day after Walker hinted that many of his picks for agency secretaries and other executive positions have been involved in the transition process.
