Green Bay Packers outside linebacker Clay Matthews is among the top
candidates for the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year Award. It’ll be announced shortly after the Packers arrive in Dallas this afternoon.
Matthews isn’t allowing himself to get too excited about the possibility of winning the award, which was captured by teammate Charles Woodson last year.
Matthews said this is as much an award for the rest of the defense as it is for the winner.
Matthews recorded 13.5 sacks during the regular season and another 3.5 in the playoffs for a total of 17 heading into Sunday’s Super Bowl game.
