The UW-Milwaukee Panthers have been up and down so far this season, but last night was the definite high point. The Panthers got 22 points from Anthony Hill and 20 from Tony Meier and knocked off the Butler Bulldogs 76-52 in men’s Horizon League basketball action.
The loss ended Butler’s 22-game Horizon League win streak. It was also the worst defeat for the Bulldogs since the 2005 season.
Milwaukee led 37-29 at the half, then went on a 15-2 run midway through the second half to pull away. Butler had won 6-straight games overall, but they had no answer last night.
The Panthers improved to 3-2 in the Horizon League. Butler dropped to
2-1. Butler’s last regular season loss came against the Panthers in February of 2009.
Milwaukee shot 55% from the floor and held Butler to 39%.
