Badgers keep Big Ten hopes in sight

February 21, 2011 By Bill Scott

Keaton Nankivil scored 22 points and tied a career high by hitting all five of his three-point attempts, leading No. 10 Wisconsin over Penn State 76-66 on Sunday night at the Kohl Center.  It’s the 20th time that the Badgers were coming off a loss and won.  Only Kansas has a longer streak of wins coming after a loss, putting together a string of 23 wins coming after a loss.

Jon Leuer added 22 points and 10 rebounds as the Badgers (20-6, 10-4 Big Ten) reached 20 wins for the 8th time in the last 9 seasons.  Prior to that stretch, the Badgers had collected 20 wins just 4 times in the 103 years of the program.

The win, coupled with No. 11 Purdue’s upset win over No. 2 Ohio State, puts Wisconsin one game behind the Boilermakers and two behind the Buckeyes in the conference race.

Talor Battle led Penn State (14-12, 7-8) with 23 points.  Penn State has games left against Northwestern, Ohio State and Minnesota.

The Badgers have four games left in the Big Ten regular season, starting with a trip to Ann Arbor to face the Michigan Wolverines on Wednesday night.
