Brewers sign Kotsay

February 4, 2011 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Brewers announced the signing of outfielder Mark Kotsay to a 1-year deal worth $800,000 today.  The deal includes a roster bonus and performance incentives that could push the value of the deal to $1.25-million.

Kotsay hit .239 with 8 home runs and 31 rbi’s last year for the Chicago White Sox.  He has a .279 career average with 121 home runs and 663 rbi’s.  Kotsay has played for 6 different teams over the last 14 years.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Brewers designated right handed pitcher Roque Mercedes for assignment.
