The end could be near for the marathon Assembly session on the Governor’s budget repair bill.
Republican leadership demanded this morning the number of amendments be limited to one per Democratic lawmaker, according to a statement from Minority Leader Peter Barca’s office.
“The other option they presented was to cut off debate entirely, which they could have done,” says the office’s Melanie Conklin.
Wispolitics.com reports Democrats originally had about 100 more amendments to go before conceding to the remaining 38, of which began debate around 6 a.m.
This session has reached more than 44 hours, minus some breaks.
