Marquette lets lead slip away

February 14, 2011 By Bill Scott

The Marquette Golden Eagles let a second half lead slip away and fell to 11th ranked Georgetown 69-60 at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.

Chris Wright scored 20 points and Austin Freeman added 17 for the Hoyas (20-5, 9-4 Big East).  Georgetown used a 14-6 run over the final nearly 9 minutes to pull away for their 8th straight win.

Marquette (15-10, 6-6) shot just 31% from the floor in the second half.  The Golden Eagles went 1 for 9 from beyond the arc and 10 for 17 from the free throw line.  Darius Johnson-Odom had 20 points to league the Golden Eagles in scoring.
