Top ranked Wisconsin (34-2-2, 24-2-2 WCHA) will host No. 6 Minnesota Duluth (22-8–3 WCHA) in the quarterfinal round of the 2011 NCAA National College women’s Ice Hockey Championship. The puck will drop at 7pm at the Kohl Center.
The Badgers earned the Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s (WCHA) automatic berth to the national tournament after winning the WCHA Final Face-off. UW defeated Minnesota 5-4 in overtime in the championship game.
The Badgers are making their sixth NCAA national tournament appearance and begin the quest for their fourth national championship after taking home the title in 2009, 2007 and 2006. UW is 11-2-0 in the national tournament for a .846 winning percentage.
