Badgers fall in overtime at Colorado College, Game 3 tonight

March 13, 2011 By Bill Scott

Colorado College evened their best 2-of-3 series with the Wisconsin Badgers at 1-1 after a 4-3 overtime victory in college hockey action on Saturday night in Colorado Springs.

The Tigers (20-17-3, 14-14-2 WCHA) scored 5:48 into the overtime period to force a third game in the WCHA Playoff series tonight.

Wisconsin (21-15-4, 13-14-3 WCHA) took an early lead, taking a 2-0 advantage into the first intermission.  Craig Smith and Podge Turnbull tallied both first period markers.

After the Tigers scored twice to tie, the Badgers went back in front early in the 3rd period when sean Dolan tipped in Derek Lee’s shot for the go-ahead goal.  That 3-2 lead held until late in the game when C.C.’s Scott Winkler found the back of the net on a rebound to tie the game and force overtime.

In the overtime, a Badger tripping penalty gave CC a power play and Jaden Schwartz eventually found the back of the net to send the series to a 3rd and final game tonight.
