Brewers gain split in Cactus League openers

March 1, 2011 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Brewers split their first two exhibition games of the spring,

Corey Hart

beating the Chicago Cubs 5-3 and falling to the San Francisco Giants 10-9.

Ryan Braun doubled and tossed out a runner at the plate in the win over the Cubs.  Tim Dillard worked two innings for the win.

Mark DeRosa hit a tie-breaking home run for the Giants in their 1-run win over the Brewers.  Shaun Marcum started, allowing 2-runs and 4-hits in 2-innings of work, striking out 3.

Right-hander Zach Greinke makes his Brewers spring debut today against the Chicago White Sox in Glendale, Arizona.

Brewers outfielder Corey Hart will be sidelined for a least two weeks with a strained lower abdominal muscle on his left side.  Hart was injured during throwing drills on Saturday.  He hit .283 with 31 home runs and 102 rbi’s last season.
