The state’s largest business group is trying to raise some big bucks for the increasingly contentious Wisconsin Supreme Court race. Jim Haney, President of Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce, says they need donations for the “counterpoint of view on-the-air in support of Justice Prosser.”
Haney says unions are attacking the incumbent with an ad campaign that says a vote against Prosser is a vote against Governor Walker and his move to restrict collective bargaining rights. He says this is “unfair” and emphasizes the judicial race is non-partisan and should be about the quality of the candidates.
Haney admits WMC may not be able to match unions dollar-for-dollar, noting organized labor has a $3 million buy which may also include money dedicated to recall campaigns.
Prosser, a former Republican Assembly Speaker, is being challenged by Assistant Attorney General JoAnne Kloppenburg.
