Investigators say a suicidal man pointed a gun at De Pere police officers last night before he was shot and killed in the parking lot of an apartment complex. The Brown County sheriff’s department is handling the case, and authorities say police were called to the Ledgecrest Estates on Samantha Street around 9:30 p.m. for a report that a suicidal man had a gun.
WHBY Sports Reporter Justin Hull lives nearby, and he said he saw officers stop the man in the driveway. He said officers drew their weapons and the man got out of his car with what looked like a rifle or shotgun. Hull said while he took cover, along with his wife, she thought she heard six gunshots. He said he thought there were about 10 shots fired. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are not saying how many officers shot at the man, or how many shots were fired.
