Girl’s State Basketball begins today

The WIAA Girl’s State Basketball Tournament opens today in Madison.  The Division 5 semifinals take the floor at 1:35 with the D4 semifinals beginning at 6:35.

In the Division 5 opener, Prentice is making the school’s 9th ever trip and first since 1993.  Prentice takes on River Ridge who makes the school’s first trip to state.  The other semifinal is Newman Catholic and Black Hawk.  Newman Catholic won the D4 title last year over Black Hawk.

In Division 4, Regis and Westby take the floor at 6:35.  Regis makes their third trip to state while Westby makes their first.  O0stburg and Algoma meet in the last game of the evening.  Algoma is back for the first time since 1986 while Oostburg makes their 5th straight and 9th overall appearance.

    Not sure where Blackhawk is. Newman Catholic is from Wausau.
