Green Bay awaits NCAA selection show tonight

March 14, 2011 By Bill Scott

The Green Bay Phoenix women’s basketball team ran its win streak to 23-straight games, capturing the 2011 Horizon League Championship by beating Butler 74-63 at the Kress Events Center on Sunday.

Green Bay (32-1) finds out its NCAA Tournament assignment when the pairings are announced tonight.  Green Bay grabbed the Horizon League’s automatic bid, their 12th overall.

Sophomore’s Adrian Ritchie and Sarah Eichler scored 18 and 17 points respectively to lead the charge for the Phoenix.  Senior Celeste Hoewisch added 10 points and 4 assists before being named the Horizon League Championship MVP.

With the automatic bid secured to go along with the regular season title, Green Bay now looks ahead to Monday, when it will learn where it open the NCAA Tournament during the selection show from 6-7pm.  Green Bay fans are welcome to join the team at the Kress Center for an NCAA Tournament Send Off Celebration and Selection Show Party.  The event is free to the public and will get underway at 5:30pm.
