McNeal signs with New Orleans Hornets

March 10, 2011 By Bill Scott

Former Marquette point guard Jarel McNeal signed a 10-day contract with the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday.  The Hornets were looking for some backcourt depth with starter Chris Paul out with injury.

McNeal played in 40 games with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the NBA Development League, averaging 19.5 points, 4.5 assists and 4.2 rebounds a game.

Paul hasn’t been able to play after colliding with Cleveland’s Ramon Sessions during a game on Sunday night.
