Panthers to face Northwestern in N.I.T.

March 14, 2011 By Bill Scott

The UW-Milwaukee Panthers drew Northwestern in the opening round of the 32-team National Invitation Tournament (NIT) field on Wednesday night in Evanston.

The Panthers are in the post-season for the first time since 2006.  The Panthers lost to Butler in the Horizon League Championship game.  They come into the NIT having won 10 of their last 12 games.

Northwestern is playing good basketball.  The Wildcats (18-13) beat Minnesota in the Big Ten Tournament, then lost in overtime to Ohio State in the quarterfinals.

The winner gets either Boston College or McNeese State.
