St. Norbert College to host NCAA Hockey Quarterfinal

March 7, 2011 By Bill Scott

St. Norbert College earned the top seeding in the West Region of the NCAA Division III Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament for the 9th time in 10-years and will host a quarterfinal-round game Saturday at the Cornerstone Community Center.

St. Norbert will face the winner of a first-round game between Hamline University (16-6-5) and UW-Superior (16-12-1) at 7pm Saturday.  The game between the Pipers and Yellowjackets will be played at 7pm Wednesday at Wessman Arena in Superior.  The winner of Saturday’s quarterfinal will advance to the NCAA Division III Frozen Four on March 25-26 at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis.

The Green Knights (22-4-1) won the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) regular-season and Peters Cup championships.  The Green Knights are an unblemished 13-0 at the Cornerstone this season.

This is St. Norbert’s 12th NCAA tournament appearance.  They won the 2008 National Championship.
