WIAA Boys State Tournament Continues…

Thursday afternoon the 2011 WIAA Boys State Basketball Tournament tipped off at the Kohl Center in Madison.  The Division 5 semifnals started the day with the Division 4 semifinals rounding out the night.

In Division 5, Calyton (25-1) advanced with a 48-37 win over Wauzeka-Steuben (24-3).  Randolph (24-3) also moved on with a 56-49 win over Green Bay N.E.W Lutheran (22-5). 

Marathon (26-1) and Grantsburg (26-1) will play in the Divison 4 title game.  Grantsburg defeated Blair-Taylor (26-1) 56-49 while Marathon took out Oostburg (26-1) 68-50.

The Division 3 semifinals are first Friday.  Aquinas (25-1) takes on Lakeside Lutheran (25-1) at 9:05 with Little Chute (23-4) and Racine St. Catherine’s (23-3) to follow. 

In the afternoon session Merrill (15-11) and Waunakee (25-1) open the D2 semifinals at 1:35 with Seymour (23-3) and Whitefish Bay (18-8) afterwards.

The Division 1 semifinals close out the night as Madison Mermorial (20-6) and Milwaukee Hamilton (20-6) tip at 6:35.  Appleton East (26-0) locks up with De Pere (24-2) to end the night.
