Flooding expected along Mississippi River

April 15, 2011 By WRN Contributor

The Mississippi River keeps rising and major flooding is now predicted at several locations. Grant County Emergency Government Director Steve Braun says he has one major concern about communities on the river. “Probably the most concerning thing is they had to close the storm water drains in Cassville and in Glen Haven, which makes those communities very vulnerable to flash flooding in the event of a rainfall,” said Braun. “The worst thing we could have for those communities right now is any rain.” The river is expected to crest at 22-feet Monday morning at Prairie du Chien. That’s six-feet above flood stage.
