Man accused of molesting child for 15 years

May 24, 2011 By WRN Contributor

A 40-year-old Melrose man, who is facing 40 felonies for alleged sex assaults in Jackson and Manitowoc counties, made his initial appearance in Manitowoc County court Monday. Robert Tollefson appeared before Judge Patrick Willis where his case was continued until June second.

He’s accused of second degree sexual assault, repeated sexual assault of a child and false imprisonment. Charges of incest, child enticement and child abuse were added last Friday. This all stems from alleged activity that the victim from the Sheboygan area – who originally lived in the village of Cleveland – endured beginning at the age of four and continued through last Christmas. She is now 19.

Bail is set at $100,000 for charges in Manitowoc County. Tollefson is currently in the Jackson County Jail in lieu of a-half-million-dollars cash. He faces up to 900 years in prison if convicted on all charges. Authorities say more charges are pending.
