The Milwaukee Brewers haven’t fared well on the road this season (8-17), but they continued to show the baseball world that they’ve got the home field thing all figured out.
Yovani Gallardo tossed 8-innings of shutout baseball, leading the Brewers to a 6-0 win over the San Francisco Giants on Sunday. It gave the Brewers 2 of 3 in the series and capped off an 8-1 home stand. The Brewers improved to 21-7 at Miller Park this season, the best home field record in baseball. [Read more…]

However, the agency says the numerous factual and legal issues raised about some of the petitions could result in court action, so it’s delaying decisions on petitions targeting Democrats until the week of June 6th. [Read more…]
Mediator possible in Capitol access lawsuit
A Dane County judge wants to appoint a mediator to help settle disputes in a lawsuit over public access to the state Capitol building. Judge John Albert made the suggestion Friday, after both sides failed to reach an agreement on appointing a “special master” in the case. That person would have acted like a judge in resolving the dispute.
Albert says the original solution proved to be “unworkable” and noted he is trying to set up a mediator both sides can agree to work with. The Judge says that individual could help resolve the entire case. [Read more…]
Contemplating collective bargaining options
What’s next for collective bargaining? Legislative leaders could decide to pass the bill again after giving ample notice.
A Dane County judge ruled on Thursday that legislators violated the state Open Meetings Law on March 9 when they voted to approve the collective bargaining bill with less than two hours notice. Another option is to include the measure in the state budget.
Democrat Bob Jauch (Poplar) is one of 14 senators who fled Wisconsin for three weeks to prevent a quorum needed to vote on the so-called union rights bill. Would that happen again? [Read more…]
Boggs outrighted to minors
Outfielder Brandon Boggs has been outrighted to Triple (A) Nashville by the Milwaukee Brewers for the third time this season. The move was made to clear a roster spot for infielder Josh Wilson, who was claimed off of waivers from Arizona on Wednesday.
Boggs became expendable because the Brewers are expected to activate Nyjer Morgan from the disabled list today. They’ll have to make another room to have roster space for the addition of Morgan.
