Wisconsinite joins Ground Zero celebration

May 3, 2011 By WRN Contributor

A radio DJ in Madison was only blocks from the site of fallen World Trade Center towers, when news broke about the killing of 9/11 mastermind Osama Bin Laden by US troops.

Aaron Rogers of WZEE-FM says he was visiting a friend in Manhattan when President Obama made the announcement Sunday night. Rogers said they made their way to Ground Zero and initially were among 20 people. More-and-more people began showing up, leading to a crowd of thousands.

Some people cheered and some chanted, but when a moment of silence was called for, the crowd went hush.”You could just feel the goose bumps going your body as everyone took time to remember why we were down there to begin with,” said the 24-year-old.
