Soccer regional play set for Fox Valley

More than 4,000 youth soccer players are ready for the U.S. Youth Soccer Region II Championships in the Fox Valley. 

The tournament consists of 214 total teams, comprised of  boys and girls ages 13 through 19.  Region II Chairman Bob Hart said this is a tournament of champions.

Ten to twelve-thousand spectators will flock to the USA Youth Sports Complex in Appleton and the Southwest Park complex in De Pere for games that start Saturday morning at 8am with champions to be crowned next Wednesday. 

All teams are state champions representing 14 districts and 13 states with the winners advancing to national competition in Phoenix, Arizona in July.  Hart said another great feature for this event are the opening ceremonies at Lambeau Field in Green Bay from 3 to 7pm today (Friday).

The first games of the tournament get underway at 8am Saturday morning.
