Braun returns as Milwaukee blasts Arizona

July 20, 2011 By Bill Scott

The Brewers hit five home runs as the crushed the Diamondbacks Tuesday night 11-3 at Chase Field in Arizona.  Ryan Braun was back in the line-up after missing that last two games with a leg injury.  It was just the 4th time in the last 14-games for the Brewers that Braun was able to play since injuring his leg July 2nd in Minnesota.

Braun had one of three Milwaukee home runs in the first inning.  The two-run shot was Braun’s 17th of the season.  Corey Hart lead off the game with his 13th of the year.  Hart hopes the Brewers can build on Tuesday:

Rickie Weeks also homered, his 19th of the year.  The offensive star of the night was Yuniesky Betancourt.  Betancourt had 3-hits, including 2 home runs, while driving in 4 runs.  Betancourt has 7 long balls on the year and is now hitting .281 in his last 10-games. Jonathan Lucroy and Casey McGehee also had 3-hits a piece.

On the mound, Yovani Gallardo improved to 11-6 on the year.  Gallardo went 6-innings surrendering 3-runs, just 1-earned, on 4-hits to go with 6 strike outs.  Gallardo on his night:

The Brewers can clinch at least a split in the 4-game set with a win tonight.  Chris Narveson takes on the Arizona’s Joe Saunders for an 8:40 first pitch.
