They’re full up at Interstate Park in St. Croix Falls. Kurt Dreger is the state park’s superintendent. and he says reservable campsites at the popular park along the scenic St. Croix River had been taken by three weeks ago, and first-come, first-served sites filled up Friday morning. There’s also an Interstate Park just across the St. Croix River in Minnesota. Thursday, campers at that park were asked to leave and the gates were closed, as all state services were shut down. “We’ve had several people driving and many phone calls to see if we had any openings,” said Dreger, adding that while they may be out of luck on campsites, hot and frustrated Minnesotans can still take a refreshing swim in the Wisconsin park’s lake.
