Davis finalizes UW Wrestling coaching staff

July 19, 2011 By Brian Moon

The University of Wisconsin Wrestling coaching roster is now complete. This after Head Coach Barry Davis saw his number two, Donny Pritzlaff, and number three, Jared Frayer, leave last month.

A recent addition to the coaching staff is UW graduate Trevor Brandvold, the newest Volunteer Assistant Coach. The River Falls, WI native replaces Kyle Ruschell, a long time Badger, who has been promoted to Assistant Coach.

The other incoming Assistant Coach is Ryan Morningstar, University of Iowa alum.

The three names are all 24-years-old and have been twice awarded All-American honors.

Plus, Davis says, they’re still in the competition circuit, “They’re still competing at the international level and can bring back those types of techniques to our younger guys in the room.”

They’re not the only ones with Olympic aspirations. The university has announced three members of the UW squad – Andrew Howe, Travis Rutt and Tyler Graff – will be redshirting the 2011-2012 season in hopes of making the U.S. National team and representing their country in London.
