Prince Fielder was booed on Monday during the all-star home run derby after
not including Arizona’s Justin Upton in his derby selection. Last night, those boos into cheers after the Milwaukee Brewer 1st baseman clubbed a 3-run homer to lead the National League to a 5-1 win over the American League, the NL’s second straight win.
Fielder’s home run helped him earn the games Most Valuable Player award, the first for a Brewer in an all-star game. It’s also the first time a Brewer hit a home run in an all-star game.
Fielder’s blast came in the fourth inning, after Carlos Beltran and Matt Kemp singled off of C.J. Wilson. The shot was delivered to left center and Fielder was worried that he may not have hit it hard enough.
