A Green Bay Democrat will be the first state senator in 15 years to face a recall election when voters head to the polls Tuesday. It’s the first of nine recall attempts against senators over Governor Walker’s controversial collective bargaining law.
Democratic Sen. Dave Hansen of Green Bay takes on Republican David Vanderleest in District 30.
VanderLeest launched the recall effort against Hansen, and he says he supports the steps Governor Walker took to balance the budget.
Hansen says Republicans chose to provide tax breaks to corporations, instead of protecting the middle class. Hansen says he’s glad that he’s the first of the nine senators to face a recall election. He says hopefully Democrats can gain some momentum and win the majority in the Senate.
There are also Republican primaries tomorrow in the recall races against the two other Senate Democrats. Six GOP Senators will face recall elections next month.
