Wisconsin’s Hmong community is breaking the silence about domestic violence. A committee formed two years ago to deal with a wave of murders and suicides in La Crosse, Milwaukee and Wausau has come up with new resources that will help Hmong clan leaders respond to and prevent domestic abuse and sexual assault. Hmong 18 Council of Wisconsin spokeswoman Houa Vang says committee members have come up with some resources that will help clan leaders document abuse and give victims information about where they can go in the community. They’ll train clan leaders on the new resources Saturday in Wausau then share their work with others in the community, including police, judges and domestic violence advocates.
