Is Wisconsin’s Ron Johnson about to abandon Senate Republican leadership on the debt ceiling issue? The GOP Senator Ron Johnson says he’s more likely to work with House Republicans than his own Senate leadership on the issue of the federal debt ceiling. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has suggested compromises with President Obama to avoid defaults on government securities but House Republicans — especially those elected last year — are demanding no compromises at all with Obama and even repeals of the federal health care reform plan as a condition for increasing the debt ceiling. Johnson says the federal government should make cuts in regulatory agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency. And Johnson wants to eliminate the two-year-old Dodd-Frank Law which attempted to eliminate the reckless Wall Street practices which even Johnson admits were a primary cause of our current economic recession.
