Marquette’s AD Steps Down

July 1, 2011 By Bill Scott

Marquette Athletic Director Steve Cottingham announced his resignation on Thursday.  He intends to pursue other interest.

The University has come under heat lately amidst their handling of recent sexual assault allegations against two unidentified athletes.  In a new release from the University, Cottingham is quoted as saying  “Although recent events involving a few student-athletes have certainly been a disappointment to me, I leave Marquette with positive feelings and confidence in its future.”

Current Deputy Athletic Director Mike Broeker will take over as acting Athletic Director.   Cottingham had been in the position since January 2007 and with the school for over 15-years.
