Time running out for mortgage help

July 20, 2011 By Brian Moon

The deadline is almost here for unemployed and underemployed Wisconsinites to apply for help in paying for their mortgage. A federal program is offering up to $50,000 in forgivable assistance. Homeownership.org is an authorized provider of the application process. Eligibility can be determined almost instantly.

“It only consists of 13 simple, prescreening questions so it just takes maybe two or three minutes of the homeowners time,” says Sherri Stuart with Springboard Nonprofit Consumer Credit Management which manages Homeownership.org.

As of this morning, the website has only had 210 people from Wisconsin sign up.

The deadline to apply is Friday July 22.
